Underwater
Lately I have been swimming quite a bit and found it deeply nourishing. I have always loved swimming but for one reason or another I had not had the opportunity. I have just come back from some time visiting my brother by the sea so had a great opportunity there but, even before going, I had managed to go back to my local pool. I had not been in years but when I visited I immediately remembered why I used to go so often: swimming to me is a way of moving inwards.
I love the fact that as you swim you are in your little bubble and, personally, I find it much easier to focus on the breath and the present moment.
Now, I know swimming is not for everyone – some people absolutely hate the thought of it but I suppose most people will have at least one activity they can immerse themselves into and just enjoy. Many of my friends like running, for example.
When I go swimming, I keep going until I feel a little bit challenged physically and I have had enough time to de-stress the mind – using it as a moving meditation.
What about you, what do you like to do to de-stress? Have you found your number one de-stress activity yet? Please do get in touch and share your thoughts if so!
